《21世纪报》是1996年中国日报主办发行的报纸。2002年9月推出，《21世纪报》与中央教育科学研究所合作，开始承担教育部全国教育科学“十五”规划课题的子课题“英语报刊阅读辅助教学新模式的研究”的任务。为了使此课题能更快更好地运用到英语教学实践中，《21世纪报》在全国范围内与地方教育行政和教学研究部门密切合作，建立了近100所英语报刊阅读实验学校，做为课题的实验基地，进行教学模式的研究，以便于交流推广，促进我国基础英语教学的改革和发展，探索英语报刊教学的规律，以填补目前中学英语教学研究在这一领域的空白。这些英语报刊阅读实验学校可以带动更多的老师利用我报开发教学资源，给学生提供更加贴近生活、贴近时代的时事读物，同时为报纸搭建了与读者沟通联系的桥梁，加强了报纸的教学功能，使编辑部门能够深入了解师生的需要，不断地提高报纸质量。

Monologue
Most shops in Britain open at 9 o’clock am and close at 5 or 5:30 in the afternoon. Small shops usually close an hour after lunchtime or one or two days a week usually Thursday or Friday. Some large food shops stay open until about 8 o’clock in the evening. Nearly all shops are open in the morning and sell candies and cigarettes as well. But there are many things that cannot be sold on Sundays.
