《计算数学》于1964年创刊，1979年复刊，首任主编是在国际上享有盛誉的已故著名科学家，独立于西方创立有限元方法的中国科学院院士冯康教授（冯康院士的哈密尔顿系统的辛几何算法获国家自然科学奖一等奖）。 《计算数学》编委会由国内著名计算数学和应用数学专家组成，编委会成员均是各个学科的带头人，其中有三位是中国科学院院士，一位是中国工程院院士。《计算数学》是数值计算的理论、分析及其应用的学术性刊物，是中国在计算数学领域公开发行的学术水平最高的期刊，在国内外享有很高的知名度。它主要刊登国内外专家、学者、科研人员具有新思想、新观点、创造性强的最新研究成果的论文、各种新的计算方法的理论分析以及在科学与工程等学科中的实际应用。同时也讨论国际上的热点问题，内容涉及计算数学以及与计算数学相关的工程的各个方面。
